Surrey rock band, You Me at Six, released new album ‘Cavalier Youth’ on 26th January 2014
ABOUT THE BAND
You Me at Six are a British rock band, formed in 2004 in Weybridge, Surrey. The band consists of Josh Franceschi, Max Helyer, Chris Miller, Matt Barnes and Dan Flint. Josh Franceschi is a former Esher College student where he studied History, Politics and Film Studies (successfully achieving A’s, B’s and C’s).
You Me at Six rose to fame in 2008 due to the success of their debut album ‘Take Off Your Colours’ (which includes the hit singles ‘Finders Keepers’, ‘Save It For The Bedroom’ and my personal favourite ‘Kiss and Tell’). In January 2010 You Me at Six released their second album ‘Hold Me Down’ (which includes the hit singles ‘Underdog’, ‘Stay With Me’ and ‘Liquid Confidence’) ‘Hold Me Down’ reached number 5 in the UK.
The boys made Surrey and their fans proud by winning the title of ‘Best British Band’ at the Kerrang! Awards in 2011. In October 2011 the band released their most heavy rock album so-far ‘Sinners Never Sleep’ as they featured Oli Sykes from the metalcore band Bring Me The Horizon in a song called ‘Bite My Tongue’.
Finally at the beginning of 2014 the album we’ve all been waiting for was finally released! ‘Cavalier Youth’. I’ve been listening to this album for the past 2 months, and now it’s finally time to give it the recognition it deserves!
ABOUT THE ALBUM
‘Cavalier Youth’ includes 12 songs: ‘Too Young To Feel This Old’, ‘Lived A Lie’, ‘Fresh Start Fever’, ‘Forgive and Forget’, ‘Room To Breathe’, ‘Win Some, Lose Some’, ‘Cold Night’, ‘Hope For the Best’, ‘Love Me Like You Used To’, ‘Be Who You Are’, ‘Carpe Diem’ and ‘Wild Ones’. This album is one of my favourites from You Me at Six, they bring a fresh new sound whilst keeping the traditional pop choruses and punk guitars of You Me at Six.
Their music is still energetic whilst showing a more mature outlook on life compared to their early stuff back in 2008. The punky guitars and catchy pop chorus screams You Me At Six in ‘Fresh Start Fever’ which reminds the fans that they’re still the same Surrey boys they were back in 2004. ‘Cavalier Youth’s final track ‘Wild Ones’ is where I think You Me at Six shines brightest, with a slower paced track and wafty chorus shows Josh Franceschi’s talent. Finally ‘Carpe Diem’ really reminds me of their older stuff, jumping straight into punk guitars and drums, really does remind me of ‘Kiss and Tell’. If you haven’t downloaded ‘Cavalier Youth’ yet then I strongly advise you to because it’s a truly great album!
